How do I get started?
Do I need a dance background?

Whether your taking class in studio, online or via the library of classes, first of all, you’ll need an account.

No you don’t :-) There is no dance involved at The Barre.
The Barre’s programme of classes uses movements that dancers use, stripped back to the base mechanics of the movement and taken as a complete workout.
I’m not very fit or flexible, is Barre suitable for me?

Yes it is! Our Barre programme is no impact and we focus closely on correct posture and alignment throughout short sets of movements. This makes it very safe and effective. If you have any particular injuries or medical concerns please contact the team who can assist you.
Do I need a Barre or even a chair to workout at home?

No! Our studio classes have been carefully adapted to use minimal equipment. A chair is advantageous, but anything that you can use to rest your hand on to give yourself balance is great.
A stool, kitchen work top, mantle-piece, breakfast barre have all been used! You’ll need something to use as light weights, and something to act as a strap for stretches, such as a dressing gown cord or scarf.

I’m pretty fit, I take exercise regularly, where should I begin?

We suggest everyone starts with a Barre Breakdown or 1st Barre, or a Barre 101 if you're working out via the library.
Here you’ll be taken through the fundamentals that will help you get the most out of training in other types of classes.
After all we want you to maximise your workout and work right at your own personal edge, and that comes from getting the fundamentals right.

That's when you see results.
I only want to workout in person, in the studio!
We hear you! On the schedule you are looking for ANY class with the word STUDIO in front of it.
These classes are in our Newcastle studio #IRL, aka In Real Life.
I only can only workout ONLINE, what do I do?
We have a number of clients who work out with us from across the UK as well as Australia and Europe.

If you can't get into the studio for any reason you can either take LIVE classes and / or utilise the LIBRARY of RePlay classes.

LIVE classes have two instructors, one training you and one as a visual guide. Almost all of our original studio classes have been adapted so you can take them at home.

Look for any class in the schedule with the word LIVE in front of it.

The Library of classes has workouts from 15-40 minutes.
It's still so important to us that we support you and help you get the most out of your training even though we may not get to meet you in person! We're always here for quick video reviews and any tech questions!
